Warren Michael "Mickey" Maheu, 76, of Bolton, died peacefully in the early hours of March 8, 2013.

Born on June 27, 1936, in West Springfield, Mass., he was the husband of Barbara (Carlson) Maheu for 44 years, and was the son of the late Aurius and Marie (Gendreau) Maheu. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Shaw, and her husband, Joel, of Lebanon; also, brothers, Aurius (Pat) J. Mahue of Westfield, Mass., and Eugene Maheu of Agawam, Mass.; sisters, Theresa Maheu of South Daytona, Fla., and Rosalie Napoli of Southwick, Mass. A large family included many "favorite" nieces, nephews, and their families. He was predeceased by brothers, Armand and Larry, and a sister, Virginia McMahon.

He served his country as a Marine in the late 1950s. He had been employed by Hartford Hospital in the engineering department as an electrician for over 30 years before his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Bolton Congregational Church where he often said his joy was "I'm just happy to be here." For over 25 years he was a proud member of Manchester Lodge No. 73 Masons, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Hartford, and Sphinx Shriners of Newington. He was an avid fisherman and fan of the Boston Red Sox, Patriots, UConn men and women's basketball and football teams. He loved people and was always ready with a hug. To him, no one was a stranger.

His family would like to thank the staff of CB2 at Hartford Hospital for the loving care they provided during his illness, and also to Dr. Madhavi Gorusu and to the Wethersfield Infusion Center.

Relatives and friends may join together on Tuesday, March 12, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. There will be a Masonic funeral service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Bolton Congregational Church, 228 Bolton Center Road, Bolton, on Wednesday, March 13, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
