Willa D. Norwood, 71, of Vernon, beloved wife of James L. Norwood of 50 years, entered into eternal peace surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.

The daughter of the late John and Hazel Dombek, Willa was born in Stafford Springs. She lived in the Ellington-Vernon area most of her life. She worked at Rockville General Hospital, running the switchboard. She also worked for Dr. Michael Sharron for many years and worked at Johnson Memorial Hospital in admitting. Willa enjoyed sewing, knitting, camping, playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren, family, and friends, also her dog, Zoya.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jane, and her husband, Kevin King; and son, James L. Norwood Jr., and his wife, Keri; her grandchildren, Mark Lemieux, and his wife, Megan, James Lemieux, Jamie Carter Jr., Leah James, Kady and Kassie Norwood; her great-grandchildren, Ariannna and Jackson. She is also survived by her sister, Jane Moser, and her husband, Jim; and brothers, Jack Dombek, and his wife, Vicki, Bob Dombek, and his wife, Lorraine, Stan Dombek, and his wife, Bonnie; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Dombek; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Dombek. She also leaves her near and dear friend and cousin, Linda Galligan.
The family will receive relatives and friends Friday, March 28, 2014, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m.
