William "Bill" Francis Carty, of Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, surrounded by loved ones.
The Guest Book is expired.
He was born to the late Thomas and Winifred Carty in Rutland, Vt., on Aug. 6, 1946. Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force, and he worked for the Department of Transportation in Connecticut until he retired in 2001. His real passion in life, though, was his family. Bill shared his life with his loving wife, Andrea (Olender) Carty, whom he married on Oct. 23, 1976. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards with his brothers, Robert and Thomas Carty.
He was a wonderful father to his daughters and spouses, Rebecca and Mathew Spinelli of Vernon and Erin and Adam Floridia of Southington; a spirited "Da" to his grandchildren, Bella and Lily Spinelli and Jameson Floridia; and a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Always wearing a friendly smile, Bill brought joy to all those who knew him. Whether being the life of the party with his friends or watching "Looney Tunes" with his grandkids, Bill was invariably a source of laughter and warmth.
In addition to being survived by those mentioned above, Bill leaves behind countless loving family and friends, many of whom he considered to be part of the family.
Relatives and friends may join the family Friday, April 4, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, with a memorial service starting at 2 p.m. Burial will be private.
To honor his generous spirit, in lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to MZB Center for Cancer Research, c/o Bruckner Oncology, 2330 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10469. For online condolences please visit
