Mona Elene (Beal) Olmoz, 96, of Enfield, passed peacefully into eternal life with loved ones at her side, on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at St. Joseph's Residence in Enfield. Mona was the beloved wife of 69 years to the late Guadalupe "George" Olmoz.

Born in New Milford on Dec. 1, 1917, Mona was the daughter of the late Maynard and Bessie (Lane) Beal. She was a resident of Bridgeport and Astoria Queens, N.Y., until 1968 when she moved to West Haven, having resided there for many years, and later in Suffield before moving to St. Joseph's Residence in Enfield. Mona was a devout Catholic who remained faithful to God. She was a former communicant of St. Paul Church, West Haven, and Sacred Heart Church, Suffield, and a member of the Society of the Legion of Mary. She and Guadalupe were active volunteers for many charitable organizations. Mona was a loving and devoted wife, mother to her seven loving children, cherished grandmother, and beloved great-grandmother. Family was her pride and joy and her life revolved around caring for them and her home.

Mona is survived by her loving children, Ramona Gaudett, and her husband, Patrick, of Delaware, George Olmoz, and his wife, Lucy, of North Carolina, Peter Guadalupe Olmoz, and his wife, Lorie, of Naugatuck, Mary Folger, and her husband, Andrew, of Ellington, Robert Olmoz, and his fiancée, Karen Docherty, of West Haven, and Joseph Olmoz, and his wife, Judy, of Colchester; her 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Mona was also predeceased by a son, Paul Olmoz; and four sisters, Peggy Tierney, Irene Baxter, Sallie Melucci, and Dorothy Souza.

Relatives and friends may gather during calling hours on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Joseph's Residence/Little Sisters of the Poor, 1315 Enfield St., Enfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mona at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, in St. Joseph's Residence Chapel. Interment will then follow in St. Patrick's King Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor.
