Olive M. (Gellerson) Burleigh, 100, formerly of Bolton, widow of Ralph E. Burleigh, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at an area convalescent home.

Olive was born in Weston, Maine, on July 11, 1913, daughter of Harry and Mary (Reed) Gellerson. She was raised in Maine, came to Connecticut in 1941, settled in Bolton in 1950, and was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Bolton. She and Ralph spent their winters in Florida during the 1970s, and Olive continued being a snowbird to Florida after his death in 1981.
She is survived by her son, Sidney Burleigh, and his wife, Carolyn, of South Glastonbury; a sister, Phyllis Clark of Glenburn, Maine; three grandchildren, Brian Gray, Janet Burleigh Kerr, and James Lawrence Burleigh, and his wife, Bonnie; six great-grandchildren, Renata Gase, Brandon Gray, Ryan and Emily Kerr, and Jacob and Christopher Burleigh; a step great-granddaughter, Samantha Rivard; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Olive was predeceased by a brother and eight sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, with burial to follow in the Bolton Center Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday, Jan. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
