Mary R. (Waterbury) Staudt, 84, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Theodore "Ted" Staudt Sr. and mother of the late Edward J. Staudt, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Hartford Hospital with her family at her side.

Mary was born May 14, 1929, in Windsor Locks, daughter of the late Walter and Rose Waterbury and had resided in Manchester for most of her life. She retired from the Tandy Corp., Manchester, and previously was employed for several years at the Kage Company, Manchester. Mary loved to sew; she made Barbie and Ken clothes for over 30 years and also made stuffed toys, giving many away to friends and their children. Finally in later years got involved in ConKerr Cancer Society, making colorful pillowcases for the children in the hospital in Hartford. It was a joy for her to sew; she called it her "labor of love." She adored her wonderful friends by mail.
Mary is survived by her loving family, Theodore H. Staudt Jr. of Rockville, Rose L. Staudt of Plainville, April C. Staudt of Manchester, John W. Staudt and his wife, Karen, of Stafford Springs; a granddaughter, Tina Flint; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Kevin, Brionna, and Caitlin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville. Family and friends may call Monday, Feb. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to MARC Inc. of Manchester, 151 Sheldon Road, Manchester, CT 06042.
