Richard G. Salters passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at his childhood home in Coventry.
He was the son of the late Robert J. Salters Jr. and Evelyn M. Duggan of Coventry. He leaves his daughter, Kristalyn D. Salters-Pedneault, and her husband, Kevin L. Pedneault of Wethersfield; and a son, Varian S. Salters of Willimantic. He is also survived by his brother, Robert J. Salters III of Stuart, Fla.; and a sister, Susan M. Lepter of Kennedyville, Md. He has two grandsons, Oliver L. Pedneault and Samuel J. Pedneault both of Wethersfield; and leaves several cousins, nephews, and a niece.
He was a 1966 graduate of Coventry High School and served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War (1968-1972). He was married to Susan E. Gee for 45 years. He founded his own retail software company, Saltware, and worked as a computer programmer before his retirement. He will be missed for his generosity, intelligence, and passion about the environment.
Calling hours will be at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a short memorial service where friends and family are requested to offer stories or memories of Richard. Burial will be private at a later date.
