Maurice E. Therrien, 82, of Enfield, loving husband of Rita (Boudreau) Therrien, passed away on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at Evergreen Health Care Center.

Maurice was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Springfield, the son of the late Arthur and Flora (Basterashe) Therrien. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Maurice retired from the Hazardville Post Office after 30 years and was one of the four original carriers from the Hazardville Post Office. In his youth he played baseball for the Hazardville Powder Keg team. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of NASCAR, but most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Rita, with whom they just celebrated 60 years of marriage, he is also survived by their four children, Sheryl Thomson, and her husband, Eric, Mark Therrien and Janice Noyes all of Florida, and Susan Razon of Enfield; three grandchildren, Kayla Nadeau, and her husband, John, of Springfield, Samantha Guilmette of Enfield, and Abigail Ackart of Florida; and cousin, Robert Chenaile, and his wife, Judy, of Ludlow, Mass.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Thursday, March 6, 2014, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. A funeral procession will gather at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Church. Military honors will be accorded following the Mass. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Maurice's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Evergreen Health Care for the wonderful and compassionate care he received.
