Richard L. McCabe Jr., 69, of Manchester, beloved husband of Diane (Bouchard) McCabe, died on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Richard L. McCabe Sr. and Harriet (Moriarty) Northrup. Richie was passionate about cars of all kinds and had a true love for motorcycles, including racing them for Manchester Honda in his younger days. He served in the U.S. Air Force for two years from 1962 to 1964. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and vacationing in the sun. He was also an avid UConn basketball fan.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Melanee McCabe; stepdaughter Nicole Gottier and husband, Eric; brother, Curtis Northrup and wife, Robin; and nieces and nephews, Mary and husband, Welbi, Darcy and husband, Tim, Kristen and husband, Rob, Ashley and Joshua. He is also survived by his aunt, Florence Carpenter and husband, Bryce; uncle, Ray Twible; mother-in-law, Germaine Bouchard of Florida; brother-in-law, Ronald Bouchard and wife, Joanne; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was also predeceased by his sister, Joan McCabe; aunt, Judy Twible; and uncle, Edward Moriarty.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 23, at 3 p.m. at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester. Family and friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m.
