Lisa (Desruisseaux) Kirby, 71, of Manchester, passed away peacefully at Rockville General Hospital with loving family by her side.

She was born on May 28, 1942, in Sherbrooke, Canada, daughter of the late J. Ernest and Alexandra (Rodrigue) Desruisseaux. Lisa and her husband emigrated from Canada to the United States in the early 1960s, without the knowledge of the English language, in search of a better life for the family. She held a variety of jobs here in the States where she was highly regarded, frequently moving into managerial positions. Her favorite jobs were working at JCPenney and a local furniture shop in Enfield. Her longtime passions were camping, working in her flower gardens, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane A. Riendeau of Vernon, Danielle Lewis of Ellenboro, N.C.; son, Jerry Kirby of Forest City, N.C.; three grandchildren, Edward Justice, David Riendeau, Lisa Riendeau; sisters, Collette (Marie Louis Bourque), Therese (Gerald Trahan); brother, Jean (Louisette Cote); sisters, Bernadette (Andre Rodrigue), and Sylvie Desruisseaux. She was predeceased by her sister, Cecile Desruisseaux.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the caring staff at Fox Hill Nursing Home for the wonderful care provided to Lisa.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT 06066. For online condolences please visit
