Elsie (Colturi) Nesta, 84, lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, and loving wife of Raymond Nesta, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She left this world as graciously as she lived in it, surrounded by the love of her family and dear friends.
The Guest Book is expired.
Elsie was the daughter of the late Angelo and Louigina (Gronda) Colturi. She was employed for 20 years as a secretary with Visiting Nurses of Windsor Locks and retired in 1985 upon the birth of her first grandchild to start a new career as a full-time, loving grandmother. Elsie will be deeply missed and always remembered for her infectious laughter, the kindness with which she treated others, the many desserts and meals she prepared and shared with all, and for the boundless love and caring she exhibited daily to her family, friends, and most anyone who needed her.
In addition to Raymond, her loving husband of 63 years, she is survived by her two children and their spouses whom she loved like her own, her son, Michael Nesta, and his wife, Laura (Lavey) Nesta, of Niantic, and her daughter, Patty White, and her husband, Jay, of Windsor Locks; her cherished grandchildren, Allison Clynch, and her husband, Kevin, Cristin White, Brendt, Devon, Raeann, and Garret Nesta; her nephew, Dr. Richard Colo, and his wife, Alexis, and their sons, Geoffrey and Matthew; her niece, Linda Colo; and many other relatives and dear friends who meant so much to her. Elsie was predeceased by her brother, Louis Colturi; and her sister, Mary Colo.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family Friday, April 4, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks.
A funeral procession will gather on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
The family would like to extend very special thanks to the staff of St. Francis Cancer Center and the oncology team on 8-1 for its care and compassion.
