Kenneth "Ken" E. Kirchner, 59, of Windsor Locks, loving husband of Gail (Hamilton) Kirchner, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 3, 2014, in the comfort of his home.

Ken was born Feb. 21, 1955, in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of the late Kenneth and Dorothy (Thompson) Kirchner. Ken served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a paratrooper and was a former member of the Broad Brook Fire Department for several years. Ken was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins and the New York Yankees. He took great pride of his meticulously manicured yard and could often be found sitting in the back yard watching the birds.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, James Dowd of Windsor Locks; a daughter, Kimberly Price, and her husband, Michael, of Enfield; his grandchildren, James Dowd, Zachary and Breanna Ouellette, Kaitlyn and Amanda Price, and Alicia Morgan; a brother, Keith Kirchner of New Hampshire; a sister, Lisa McCusker, and her husband, Dan, of Lee, Mass.; many niece and nephews, and his two four-legged friends, Rufus and Casper.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
A graveside service for Ken will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at St. Mary Cemetery on Spring Street in Windsor Locks.
