Armand "Mike" J. Garcia, 74, of Suffield, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 1, 1939, in Boston, he was the son of the late Maximo and Margarite (Borja) Garcia. After graduating from high school, Armand entered the United States Air Force and culminated his career as Senior Operations Director of the 564th Air Force Band stationed at Langley AFB in Hampton, VA. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service. He then began college on the G.I. Bill and graduated from the University of Hartford with a Master's Degree in Education and was concurrently awarded a State of Connecticut teaching certification in mathematics. Armand began his teaching career as an adjunct lecturer at Our Lady of the Angels, an all girls Catholic high school in Enfield. He then joined the full time mathematics staff at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield. Upon his retirement from the college, he was awarded the State of Connecticut Congress Merit Award for excellence in teaching, while continuing to teach as an adjunct lecturer at Bay Path College in Longmeadow, Mass. Amongst his busy schedule, Armand was also an avid Red Sox fan.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Armand leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol (Berselli) Garcia; his two children, Donna Morgan and her husband, Mark, of Shelton, and Michael Garcia and his companion, Lisa Cassista, of Norwich; his six grandchildren, Krystina, Zachary, Robert, and Joseph Morgan, and Alexander and Abigail Garcia; his sister, Donna Conley of Waterford; and many other loving family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., on Monday, April 14, for a funeral service to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be held privately at the State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown.

Armand's family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Sunday, April 13, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Armand's name may be made to , 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
