Loretta, a lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, was born May 16, 1930, the daughter of the late Attilio L. and Mary M. (Balboni) Mobiglia. Loretta graduated from Hartford Hair Dressing School and learned a trade that would produce lifelong friendships. She owned and operated a hair salon from her home for many years. Loretta was a faithful devoted parishioner of St. Mary Church and was known to "light up the East Coast skyline" with the many candles she would light. She loved to play bingo and trips to the casino. Loretta was the matriarch of the Wheeler family and was truly dedicated to her family and affectionately known as Mom, Nona, Grandma, Aunt, Godmother, and friend and will be missed by everyone. Loretta has and will continue to touch the hearts of us all with her never-ending, selfless acts of kindness, which she wouldn't have any other way.
She is survived by her three children, Thomas Wheeler, and his wife, Jerrolyn, of Windsor Locks, Richard Wheeler, and his wife, Kathleen, of Feeding Hills, Mass., and Mary Ann Akil, and her husband, Abdul, of Windsor Locks; her six loving grandchildren, Anthony Akil, currently serving in the United States Navy, Ahmed Akil of Windsor Locks, Steven Wheeler of Broad Brook, James Wheeler, and his wife, Caron, of Windsor Locks, Dawn Conary of South Windsor, and Robert Conary, and his wife, Nancy, of Vernon; her brother, Raymond Mobiglia, and his wife, Lorraine, of Hamden; her sister, Ann Wawruck of Windsor Locks; many nieces and nephews whom she loved immensely, close friends, and wonderful neighbors. In addition to her husband, James, she was also predeceased by a brother, Francis Mobiglia; and her very dear friend, Elsie Nesta.
