Frank C. Graziani, 92, of Ellington, beloved husband of the late Edith (Hannon) Graziani, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014. He was born April 18, 1922, in Bronx, N.Y., the son of the late Orazio and Mary (Egner) Graziani. He was a U.S. Army 9th infantry combat veteran of World War II. He was in the battle of Normandy, battle of the Bulge, battle of Remagen, and battle of Hurt-gen Forest. He was awarded two bronze stars, one with a V for Valor, and two purple hearts. He was hospitalized in Paris and returned to the battlefield. He was a member of the Ellington VFW Post 10689, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Ellington American Legion Post 62. He volunteered at Rockville General Hospital, Vernon Manor, Big Brothers, Volunteer Ambulance, and St. Luke's Church in Ellington. He was an operations manager for major trucking companies and the former president of the New York State Motor Transportation Association. He and his wife opened their home to underprivileged children for the holidays and throughout the year.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ted C. and Erin Graziani, Edward C. and Alma Graziani, all of Ellington, and Susan L. and Tom Matthews of Tolland; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Graziani of Ellington; his sisters, Anna Perrone and Mary Solla; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Angela, Robert, Miranda, Alayna, Justin, Jeremy, Carolyn and Gregory; and his seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, whom he adored, and his trusted companion, his dog, Meg. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Edward Graziani, and his sister, Lee Allison.
The family would like to thank the staff at the VA Hospital and Vernon Manor and health care professionals for their care and compassion throughout the years.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT 06066.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at St. Luke's Church, 141 Maple St., Ellington, CT 06029. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery.
