Paul J. Lucius of Manchester, loving husband of Maura (McGuire) Lucius, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, five days shy of his 83rd birthday.

He was born and raised in Somerville, Mass., the son of the late Richard P. and Agnes E. Lucius. Paul served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, after which he attended St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H., majoring in foreign language and graduating in 1959. He earned a master's degree in French and a sixth-year degree from the University of Hartford. Paul taught both Spanish and French at Enfield High School for 35 years. He was fluent in five languages. Paul loved his students and teaching. He was musical. He enjoyed playing the piano and had a wonderful singing voice. Paul was also an avid pool player winning several tournaments locally.
Besides his wife, Maura, he is survived by his twin sister, Dorothy Kozloski; his niece, Carol Lucius; his nephews, Stephen and Philip Kozloski, Richard Lucius, and Paul Bottari; as well as the children, grandchildren from the Flanagan and Higgins families to whom he was known simply as "Uncle Paul." He also leaves his treasured friends from the Greer family. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his sister, Constance Bottari; his brother, Richard Lucius; a niece, Susan Bottari; and a nephew, Robert Bottari.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 E. Center St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester. Everyone is asked to please go directly to church.
Burial with military honors will be on Friday, April 25, at noon in Mountain Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604.
