Otto L. Wilcox, age 98 of Somers, formerly of Windsor, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Mapleton, Maine, on Sept. 13, 1915, he was the son of the late Glenn and Katherine (Tompkins) Wilcox. Previously residing in Maine, New York, and Hartford, Otto relocated and lived in Windsor from 1950 until 2010 when he moved to the Somers community. Otto was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Pulcifur) Wilcox for over 70 years, before she preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2005. He was a longtime member of the Windsor Methodist Church and was a self-employed painting contractor. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and in his leisure time enjoyed crossword puzzles and reading. Otto's greatest joy was playing the piano and spending time with his family. He was the best "Pop" in the world.

Otto will be deeply missed by his two sons, Gary Wilcox, and his wife, Barbara, of Enfield, and Brian Wilcox Sr. of Somers; his eight grandchildren and their families, Deborah Stegmaier and Roy Lantieri, her sons, Nathaniel and Alex; Susan and Dale Wilson, their children, Josh and his wife, Renee, Heidi Wilson, and Kevin Best; Alyson and John Lemieux, her daughters, Cole and Deni Trudeau; Lisa and Gary Knightly, their children, Jason, Lindsey, Travis, and Jordan; Patrick Wilcox, his children, Jordan, Sage, Zachary, and Andrew; Brian and Debra Wilcox, their children, Brianna, Trevor and Macy; Mark Wilcox, and his fiancée, Julie Driscoll, and his daughter, Charlotte; and Kristi Wilcox and Troy Violette, and their son, Ben. Otto had two great-great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Austin Gilmore. Besides his parents and his beloved wife, Phyllis, Otto was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Harold, Merle, and Floyd; two sisters, Hazel and Arlene; and his daughter-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" (Scavotto) Wilcox.

Otto's family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Nancy, Lisette, and Penny from Companions and Homemakers for the exceptional care they extended to Otto.

A funeral service for Otto will be held on Wednesday, April 30, at 11 a.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St. His family will receive relatives and friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Somers Center Cemetery.
