John D. Ambrose Jr., 75, of Vernon beloved husband of Betty (Warner) Ambrose, passed away at home Wednesday, May 7, 2014.

John was born in Manchester, June 21, 1938, son of the late John D. Ambrose Sr. and Florence (Wilson) Ambrose. He lived in Manchester and has resided in Vernon for more than 50 years. Before retiring he was an auto mechanic for 35 years at the former Maple Super Service Station in Manchester.
In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by five daughters, Julie Spulick and husband, John, of Vernon, Lyra Ambrose of South Windsor, Barbara Ambrose of Farmington, Tina Hadden and husband, Robert, of Vernon, Johnett Simsonson and husband, Jeff, of Ellington; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends from Sun Valley Co-op in Stafford.
Memorial calling hours will be Monday, May 12, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester.
Private burial will be in East Cemetery, Manchester.
