Ilene F. Harmon, 75, of Ellington passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Evergreen Health Care Center, Stafford Springs.

Born March 9, 1939, in Rockville, she was a daughter to the late Kenneth W. and Joyce (Long) Feldon. She enjoyed a 48-year career with Pratt & Whitney, working in both East Hartford and West Palm Beach, Florida. She loved her cats and reading a good book. Ilene was a kind, supportive, and loving person, who with her kind, gentle ways comforted all who knew her.
She is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Weed of Stafford Springs, and her children, Debbie Weed, and Craig Weed Jr. along with his children, Cassandra and Beau Weed, who were like Ilene's grandchildren; Shirley Tracy of Hampden, Maine, and her children, Jeff Brann, Susan Kenney, James Brann, and April Poitras; Karen Soucie and her husband, Edmund, of Brooksville, Florida, and her son, Darrell Soucie; and Noreen Grumbach of Orange, California. She also leaves her stepson Richard Harmon and his wife, Lawrenna, of Savannah, Georgia. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin "Ben" Harmon.
Calling hours for Ilene will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 19, at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road, Vernon.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Ellington Congregational Church, 72 Main St., Ellington. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ilene's name to the Ellington Congregational Church or the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
