Rodney "Rod" A. Fountain, 74, of Enfield, beloved husband of Susan (Bossert) Fountain, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born Sept. 2, 1939, in Quebec, Canada, son of the late Wilfred and Catherine (Murphy) Fountain, he grew up in Canada before moving to Enfield 43 years ago. He was employed by Hamilton Standard for 38 years as an electronics technician before retiring in 2006. Rod was a motorcycle enthusiast and an avid NASCAR fan.
Rod was predeceased by his son, Kevin Fountain. Besides Susan, his wife of 30 years, he is survived by two daughters, Stacy D'Amato, and her husband, John, of Suffield, Amy LaPorte, and her husband, Dave, of West Suffield; a stepson, William Duncan, and his wife, Kathy, of Putnam Valley, New York; a stepdaughter, Kelly Phillips, and her husband, Dana, of Wappingers Falls, New York; two brothers, Ralph Fountain, Roger Fountain, and his wife, Marilyn, both of Canada; a sister, Yolande Fountain, and her husband, Bill Bilodeau, of Canada; six grandchildren, Frank, Giustina, Angelina, Michelangelo D'Amato, Tyler Leason, and Charly LaPorte; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Kristen Yozzo; a dear friend who was like a son, Dave Leason; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his best friend, Bubba.
His family will receive friends Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. N. (Route 159), Suffield.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield.
