Jacqueline (McGowan) Reever quietly left this world on Saturday, May 24, 2014.

She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 17, 1937, the only child of the late John F. and Irene (Lawyer) McGowan. Jackie and her parents moved to East Hartford in 1942, and contrary to her parents' original plan remained in Connecticut all their lives. In 1959 she met her future husband, Robert "Bob" Reever. They married on Aug. 5, 1961, at the Little Church Around the Corner in New York City, and remained true and faithful to one another for 48 years. Bob passed away suddenly on Aug. 1, 2009, leaving Jackie's life changed forever.

She leaves behind her beloved children and their families, John P. Reever, and his wife, Lisa, of Colchester, and her grandsons, Ethan, Jack, and Aidan; Jocelyn A. Mitchell, and her husband, Dennis, of Canton, and her stepgrandchildren, Harry and Anna; and Jessica Albert, and her husband, Michael, of Ellington. She also leaves behind her much loved sister-in-law, Dorothy (Dottie Reever) Rienhard of York, Pennsylvania; her dear first cousins, Nancy (Lawyer) Gilbert, Carolynn (Lawyer) Remaly, and Barbara (McGowan) McFetridge, all of the Pittsburgh area. Her last years were happily filled with the companionship of her beloved silky terrier, Henry. Thankfully, Henry is left in the good care of a loving house.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers charitable donation, thoughts of happy times, and time well spent with family would be appreciated.
