Vincent "Vinny" Joseph Valentine, 53, of Enfield, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully into the arms of our Lord, in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

Vinny leaves behind his beloved son, Jay, whom he adored and lived for. He also leaves behind his mother, Christine H. Jennings; his father, Albert U. Valentine; his brother, Albert; his sisters, Laura and Liza; and a half-sister, Shelly. He was predeceased by a brother, Christie.

Vinny was married for 26 years to Therese (Wilson) Valentine. They recently divorced, but both took care of Jay and love him very much! Vinny was born on Feb. 27, 1961, in New Britain and attended school in Manchester. He later moved to Enfield, where he spent most of his adult life. Vinny was employed at Manchester Hospital as a janitor. He later went to UTRC (United Technologies Research Center) in East Hartford where he worked for 32 years as a lead mechanical trade technician in his division. Vinny was involved in many different volunteer jobs outside of work, such as Special Olympics, East Hartford Community Shelter and Pantry, the Manchester Area Conference of Churches (MACC), the United Way Day of Caring, the Hartford Marathon, as well as many many more. He also volunteered for several years on the Toy Train Committee at Symphony on Ice, and was one of UTRC's elves delivering donated toys to East Hartford Social Services. If you ever went to the UTRC's Christmas party you know that Vinny's artichokes at the Italian table will only be a great memory and topic of discussion. On the outside, Vinny loved gardening, cooking, fishing, Frisbee with Jay, hanging out with neighborhood friends. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone whether you knew him or not. Everybody loved him and, "Dad, I'll do my very best to make you proud and do things the way you wished of me to do. I love you."

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, with the Rev. Barry Andrusik officiating. His family will receive friends prior to the service from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
