James E. Mullen, 83, of Enfield, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at Rockville General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 5, 1931, the son of the late William and Pearl (Brown) Redman. James resided in Enfield for the past 36 years and on Aug. 19, 1978, he was united in marriage to his beloved wife Margaret Symington. He was formerly employed by East Windsor Welding and as a boy he also worked for Barnum & Bailey. James was a member of the German Club in Rockville, as well as the Westerly Yacht Club in Rhode Island where he loved spending time as an avid outdoorsman.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, he will be greatly missed by his wife, Margaret; his six children, Denise Trench of Ellington, Donna Winn, and her husband, William, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, Wayne Root, and his wife, Suzanne, of Carmel, New York, Nora Buckingham, and her husband, Kevin, of Suffield, Colleen Korniotes, and her husband, Nick, of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Thomas Scully of Sutton, Massachusetts; his 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Kenneth Redman, and his wife, Pat, of Vancouver, British Columbia; his sister, Shirley Elstrum, and her husband, Dale, of Canada; and several loving nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at noon at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road. His family will receive relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at the convenience of his family.
