Patricia Ann (Kowalski) Grigitis, 63, of Windsor Locks, passed away on June 22, 2014, in the comfort of her home with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Patricia was born on March 13, 1951, in Hartford, the daughter of the late Felix and Sophie (Golemo) Kowalski, and was a lifelong resident of Windsor Locks.

Patricia, otherwise known at Pat, Mom, and Grandma, leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Stanley Grigitis; their three loving children, son, Timothy Grigitis, and his significant other, Melissa Andrews, daughter, Amy Stanwick and husband, Tyler Stanwick, and son, Michael Grigitis; her sister and best friend, June Mason and significant other, Stanley Stepien; one beloved granddaughter, Emma Rose Stanwick; many dearly loved in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and two granddogs.

Patricia will be remembered as the center and unifying force of her family, and as a kind, caring soul who cared for family members in times of sickness and need. She was overjoyed at the birth of her granddaughter, her "Little Peanut," who was born the day before Patricia's birthday and who now has a guardian angel watching over her. Patricia enjoyed visiting Cape Cod with her husband and family, shopping the weekly sales, especially at Kohl's and Christmas Tree Shops, and running her errands each week with her son. She was content to sit and chat with her loved ones for hours, and enjoyed the frequent road trips she and her husband would take. She loved springtime and tulips, and watched for the first red robin of the season every year. She was a lifelong viewer of "Days of Our Lives," and we hope that there is a television tuned in at noon each day in her living room in the sky. Patricia lived her life with love, kindness, and good humor. She battled her illness with bravery, strength, and grace. She had a young spirit and a loving heart, which will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Stanley Sr. and Viola Grigitis.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. A funeral procession will gather on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Pat's memory to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave., Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266; or the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
