Judith "Judy" (Rugg) Ball, 73, of Manchester, loving wife of 52 years to Warren C. Ball, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, July 11, 2014, with her friends and family at her side.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Albert and Emily (Gleason) Rugg, she grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts, and lived in Ellington for most of her life before moving to Manchester seven years ago. She was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Class of 1962. She was an avid tennis player, and loyal supporter of UConn women's basketball. She was a member of the Suburban Women's Group, and was a hospice volunteer for many years. Judy was a substitute teacher at Rockville High School for 25 years. She was a longtime active member of Ellington Congregational Church. She loved being a grandmother, and she looked forward to the family trips to Maine. Judy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin and Kevin Casey of Southborough, Massachusetts, and Tracey and Jeff Tanzola of San Diego, California; her four grandchildren, whom she adored, Paige and Mairathe Casey, Tom Godek, and Zoe Tanzola; and many dear friends.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Ellington Congregational Church, 72 Main St., Ellington. Interment will follow in Ellington Cemetery.
