Mary F. Okolo, of Ellington, beloved wife of Thaddeus J. Okolo Sr., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 11, 1924, in Quincy, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Michael and Lucy (Daisley) Foley. She was one of the founding members, along with her husband, of St. Luke Church in Ellington. An avid reader, Mary served as a director on the Ellington Library Board for 24 years. She was active in other community organizations and activities, including the Rockville Hospital Auxiliary.
Besides her husband, Thaddeus, she is survived by her children, Cindy Okolo of Michigan, Judy Nasman, and her husband, Ron, of Colorado, Thaddeus Okolo Jr., and his wife, Mary, of Orange, Ellie Duell, and her husband, Scott, of Tolland, and Robin Lampron, and her husband, John, of Thomaston. She also leaves behind her brother Edward Foley; and 11 grandchildren, Maria, Robert, Eric, Scott, Stephanie, David, Jacob, Jennifer, Benjamin, Andrew, and Jonathan.
Relatives and friends may join the family on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will held on Friday, July 18, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke Church, Ellington. Burial will follow at Ellington Center Cemetery, Ellington.
