Blaise LaCaprucia, 80, of South Windsor, beloved husband of the late Eileen (Young) LaCaprucia, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, surrounded by his family.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1933, in Hartford, son of the late Pasquale and Angelina (Sinsigalli) LaCaprucia. Blaise grew up in Hartford and served our country during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army. A resident of South Windsor most of his life, he was an accomplished iron worker with Local 15 for 62 years. Upon his retirement he moved to Northport, Florida, where he loved life for the past 24 years. He was a member of the Northport Chapter of AMVETS. Blaise loved animals of all kind, especially his dog Socks, and enjoyed entertaining people and being the life of the party. He was a caring and devoted family man with a big heart who will be greatly missed.

He leaves his children, Marco LaCaprucia, and his wife, Brenda, of Manchester; daughters, Sharon McDermott, and her husband, Timothy, of Coventry, and Linda LaCaprucia, and her partner, Daniel Riggs, of South Windsor; his brothers, Frank, and his wife, Denise LaCaprucia, of Winter Haven, Florida, and Anthony, and his wife, Carol LaCaprucia, of Elgin, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Rebecca and Ryan Hull, Ryan and Sharon McDermott, Nicholas LaCaprucia, and his partner, Jen Strickland, Derek and Neeti McDermott, and Matthew LaCaprucia; and four great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Luke, Lilly, and Soren Hull. He was predeceased by his son, Blaise LaCaprucia Jr.; and a brother and sister.

His family will receive friends on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery, South Windsor.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111.
