Susan (Cross) Maiolo, 87, of Suffield, beloved wife of the late Frank A. Maiolo, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born on Feb. 1, 1927, in Springfield, daughter of the late Lewis Benjamin and Viola Gordon Veideman Cross. She was a graduate of West Springfield High School with the class of 1944. Susan and her husband, Frank, operated Riverside Rollaway from 1949 until his death in 1966. She continued operations there, until 1978 when she built, owned, and operated The Rollaway across the street from Riverside Park in Agawam, Massachusetts, until 1998. She was a long-time member of the Roller Skating Association (RSA), enjoyed playing bridge and tennis. A kind, caring, and devoted mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed by all.

She leaves her son, David Maiolo of Suffield; her daughter, Gay Maiolo of Springfield; her brother, John Cross and his wife, June, of West Springfield; and three grandchildren, Anna, Ben, and Aaron Baboval, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Cynthia Goodenow, and brother, Harrison Cross.

Her family will receive friends on Monday, July 28, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home, 443 East St. North (Route 159) Suffield, followed by a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.
