Thyrza (Lowe) Edson, 94, of Tolland and Manchester, wife of the late Parker Edson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

Born in Meriden, the daughter of the late Carey and Blanche (Austin) Lowe, she grew up and lived in Meriden for most of her life. She was a member of the Olive Branch Chapel in Meriden before it became the First Baptist Church of Meriden. She was a loving, kind, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved all types of music, square dancing, and doing the polka with her nephew Cliff. She enjoyed taking walks. "Rusty" will always be remembered for her red hair and beautiful smile.

She is survived by her beloved children, Gwendolyn Batura of Manchester, Parker Edson Jr. of Massachusetts, Laura Dudley of Vernon, Gloria Ruede of Maine, and Richard Edson of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, Keri Batura, Tanya Batura and her husband, Mark Digeros, Deanna Ratches and her husband, Shawn, Melissa Figueredo Edson and her husband, Manny, Olivia Ruede and her fiancé, Ed Nappe, Jennifer Keenan and her husband, Matt, and Jared Edson and his wife, Amy; nine great-grandchildren, Wesley and Kassandra Ruede, Jake, Violet, and Lyla Ratches, Melanie Figueredo Edson, Teagan and Alayna Edson, and Tyson Keenan; her brother, George Lowe of New York; a loved friend and sister-in-law, Barbara Lowe; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Carey, Robert, and Henry Lowe; and her sister, Polly Marks.

Our family is grateful to Woodlake at Tolland for taking such loving care of mom and to Hartford Hospital-Conklin Hospice Unit for their love and compassion during mom's last weeks.

To honor mom, give a smile or do a simple act of kindness for another - that was and is our mom.

Graveside services will be private and at the convenience of her family.
