Rose A. (Lattarulo) Crispino, 89, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Sam A. Crispino, passed away peacefully, Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, at Mt. Laurel Assisted Living in Glastonbury.

Rose was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Hartford, the youngest of nine children to the late Joseph and Josephine Lattarulo, and hence was given the name "Babe." She was a graduate of Hartford Public High School, Class of 1942. Rose went on to become an administrative assistant at Pratt & Whitney, prior to helping her husband, Sam, establish the well-known Manchester retail grocery store destination, Supreme Foods. Rose, always cheerful and generous, was a dedicated member of St. James Church, attending Mass every Sunday, volunteering for numerous church and community projects. She loved playing bridge, square dancing, and gardening. Rose was an avid sports fan, often attending the activities of her sons and grandchildren, in addition to being an active golf member of Manchester Country Club, playing until she was 85 years old! She was a strong supporter of UConn sports, who along with her husband, Sam, was a generous contributor to the UConn Athletic Fund for men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the football and baseball teams for over 30 years. When Rose wasn't attending UConn games, she loved to take senior bus trips to see various sights around New England, and watch Yankees baseball games on television and took particular delight when the Yankees beat the Red Sox.
Rose will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family, two sons, and their spouses, Michael, and his wife, Jean, of Avon, Steven, and his wife, Patti, of Manchester; and four adored grandchildren, Sara and Michael (MAC), Steven Jr., and Joseph.
Rose's family will receive friends and relatives at the John F. Tierney Funeral Home, 219 W. Center St., Manchester, on Tuesday, Aug. 5, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester. Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery (Section H), 368 Broad St., Manchester.
