Patricia Ethel (Board) Ward, 67, of Vernon, wife of the late Robert Ward (2013), passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014.

Born in Bakersfield, California, the daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Vigna) Board, she grew up and lived in California, East Hartford, and Manchester before moving to Vernon six years ago. She graduated from Porterville High School, Porterville, California, and earned her associate degree from Fresno State University, Fresno, California. Prior to her retirement in 2007, Patricia worked for 22 years in the account reconcilement department for CBT, Fleet Bank, and Bank of America. She also worked at the former G. Fox, Zayre, and Ames department stores. She was a stay-at-home mom when her children were young. She was a very kind, loving mother and friend who enjoyed cookouts and vacationing with her family, as well as going to lunch with her friends, especially the "out to lunch bunch trips" with the senior center. She enjoyed reading mystery novels and playing games. She also liked watching her favorite TV game show, Jeopardy.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Ward and his fiancée, Daisy Bolton, of Vernon, and Jennifer Cane and her husband, Patrick, of Vernon; grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Board and his wife, Judy, and Jeff Board and his wife, Carmen, all of California; and many nieces and nephews.
Her family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. at Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, 551 Talcottville Road (Route 83), Vernon. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
