Sharon Ann (Plourd) Masse, 56, of Broad Brook and formerly of East Hartford, loving wife of 20 years to James Masse, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at her home with her loving family at her side.

Born in Hartford, the daughter of Maureen (Powers) Plourd of Port Orange, Florida, and the late Leon Plourd, she grew up and lived in East Hartford for most of her life before moving to Broad Brook 10 years ago. She was a graduate of East Hartford High School, Class of 1976, and she had attended Central Connecticut State University. Sharon was a benefits administrator at Mass Mutual in Springfield for several years. She was a communicant of St. Catherine Church in Broad Brook. She enjoyed going on family vacations to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband and her mother, Sharon is survived by her beloved sons, Nicholas and Tyler Masse of Broad Brook; two brothers, Steven Plourd, and his wife, Wendy Sue, of Georgia, and William Plourd, and his wife, Beth, of North Carolina; her sister, Wendy Silver, and her husband, Patrick, of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, and extended family, and her best friend and companion, her dog, Marty McFly. She was also predeceased by her nephew, Robert Doran.
Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Church, 150 S. Main St., East Windsor. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
