George David Fuerth, 92, of Manchester, left this earth for his greater reward on Aug. 10, 2014.
The Guest Book is expired.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Verna (Schaefer) Fuerth. He was born in Newark, New Jersey, on Feb. 27, 1922, the son of George C. and Carrie (Nelson) Fuerth.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, George is survived by his daughters, Sorine (Chris) Belz, and her husband, Edward, and Donna Rooney, and her husband, Michael; his grandchildren, Scott and Lynn Belz, Matthew, Michael, and Sam Rooney; and great-grandchildren, Alexia, Tristan, and Reagan, who will always remember their Pop-Pop with great love and affection.
George spent the first 80 years of his life in New Jersey, where he enjoyed a successful career with IBM. His heart was always at the Jersey shore where the entire family enjoyed the summer sun at Ocean Beach. His retirement years were spent golfing and traveling with his many dear friends in Lakehurst. Upon moving to Connecticut, George developed many close friendships in the Vernon and Manchester areas. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and former president of the Colonial Prospect Lodge and Crescent Shrine in Little Silver, New Jersey. George proudly served his country during World War II as a machinist mate on the Coast Guard cutter USS Campbell. He had been an active member of the USS Campbell Association and was devoted to memorializing the ship's mascot, Sinbad, organizing the commission of the dog's statue, which is proudly housed on the ship to this day.
