John W. "Jack" Kessler, 89, of Glastonbury, beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" (Adams) Kessler, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at the Rocky Hill Veterans Hospital.

Born Feb. 7, 1925, in the Bronx, New York, son of the late William and Emma (Finnin) Kessler, he had lived in Glastonbury for the past 18 years. Prior to his retirement he was a plant manager for Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream in Southbury. Jack had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the VFW in Manchester. He was an avid pool player at the Glastonbury Senior Center. He was a member of the Hearing Aid Group in Ashford and the Glastonbury Police Triad.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Lisa Kessler, and their daughter, Sara Kessler, all of Colchester; a daughter, Eileen Lee, and her companion, Joseph Wroblewski, of South Windsor, and her children and their spouses, Colleen Lee of Ellington, Doreen and Richard Nicholson of Smithfield, Rhode Island, Patrick and Jenneen Lee of Broad Brook, Shaun and Jennifer Lee of Lexington, Massachusetts; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Jessica, Rachel, Megan, Ryan, Richie, Connor, and Katie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. in St. Dunstan Church, 1345 Manchester Road, Glastonbury. Burial with military honors will follow in the CT Veterans Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call at the Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury on Sunday, Aug. 17, from 2 to 5 p.m.
