Kenneth C. Cwikla Sr., 73, of Windsor, beloved husband of the late Violet (Hall) Cwikla, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at his home.

Born in Hartford to the late Carl and Ruth (Slater) Cwikla, he has been a Windsor resident all of his life. Ken owned and operated Ken's Nursery and Landscaping for over 50 years and had designed the landscaping for many properties throughout Windsor. He was a volunteer with the Hayden Station Fire Department and a member of the Windsor Marksmen's Club. Ken enjoyed fishing and coin hunting in his spare time, but most important was his family who will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his son Kenneth C. Cwikla Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Windsor Locks; his brothers Anthony, Robert, and Edward Cwikla; his sisters Joyce Olden, Carol Dlugokinski, and Cathy Orr; his grandchildren Kyle Cwikla, Sabrina Zimmerman and her husband, Patrick, Heather Cwikla, Rebecca Dodge, and Jonathan Dodge; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Sonny Slater.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
