Shirley (Fraser) Glenney, 89, of Coventry, beloved wife of the late William G. Glenney Jr., died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at home with her family at her side.

Shirley was born April 24, 1925, in Hartford, daughter of the late Herbert and Florence (McCormick) Fraser. She had been a resident of Manchester for many years until moving to Coventry in 1963. Shirley earned an associate degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in 1992. She was an administrative assistant at United Technologies, University of Connecticut, University of Hartford, and the state of Connecticut. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Coventry, a former volunteer at Manchester Memorial Hospital and Children and Family Services of Connecticut.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Capt. William G. Glenney IV of Middletown, Rhode Island, and Daniel M. Glenney and his, wife, Susan, of Manchester; her two daughters, Marcia G. Van Camp of Jackman, Maine, and Kimberly Glenney Petrin and her husband, Roger, of Vernon; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son-in-law, Blair Van Camp; her two brothers, Herbert C. Fraser Jr., and Roy W. Fraser; and her sister, Eleanor Scranton-Richards.
A calling hour will be held Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service to begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
