Peter Marcroft Obituary
He was born November 12, 1946, in Providence, R.I., to the late George and Ruth Louise (Godfrey) Marcroft. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and helping others. He volunteered with the Vernon Fire Department as well as the Tri-Town Pantry, and was involved with the Vernon Little League.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristen Marcroft of Tolland; his two sons, Keith Marcroft and his wife, Coreen, of Tolland, and Jason Marcroft and his wife, Kelly, of Tolland. He is also survived by his grandchildren Caroline and Avery.
Relatives and friends are welcomed to join the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville, CT 06066.
A funeral home service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Vernon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Hockanum Valley Community Council, Tri-Town Pantry, 29 Naek Road, Suite 5A, Vernon, CT 06066. For online condolences, please visit

I'm so sorry to hear of Pete's passing, I knew Pete as a fraternity brother at Stevens in Hoboken NJ back in the 60's and am speaking for our fraternity when I say he was a great guy

My condolences to the Marcroft family. I have gone to church with Peter for many years and was extremely saddened to hear of his passing in church on Sunday. May he be at peace now..and may you all be comforted knowing what a wonderful, caring man he was.

I always found Pete to be a wonderful, fatherly figure - a fact that I would let him know from time to time. I will remember him always in that light and I will pray for his family so that may have comfort in knowing the degree of respect so many of us had for Pete.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. I knew Pete when I used to work at Zurich. He was a great colleague and friend. I'll always remember the great times we had in Las Vegas at the Zurich meetings...the 'family dinners' and out on the boat on Lake Mead.
