Svend A. Arildsen, 88, beloved husband of Luisa (Salazar) Arildsen, of South Windsor, died peacefully, Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at home with his family by his side.

He was born in Denmark on Sept. 9, 1922, son of the late Sigvald and Mette Nathalie Bloch (Nielsen) Arildsen, he had lived in South Windsor for the last 52 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II in the Philippines and Japan and served in the Coast Guard. He attended St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Windsor, and enjoyed sailing, model making, tennis, storytelling, photos, and movie making, and above all his family.
In addition to his devoted wife, Luisa, he leaves their children, Paul Arildsen, and his wife, Suzie, David Arildsen, and his wife, Julie, Monica Howell, and her husband, Robinson, and Anne Marie Levack; 10 grandchildren, Carmen, Kristina, Eugenie, Benjamin, Jeremy, Heather, Kate, Erin, Christian, and Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road, South Windsor. Burial will be private.
