Ruth (Lugauskas) Nussbaum, 87, of Windsor Locks, loving wife of 58 years to the late Hubert "Bert" Nussbaum, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at the Suffield House with her loving family by her side.

Ruth was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Kastontas and Eva (Kazlauskas) Lugauskas. A longtime resident of Windsor Locks, Ruth was a graduate of Windsor Locks High School, class of 1942. She worked at Air Corps Supply at Bradley Field, where she met and married Staff Sgt. Hubert "Bert" Nussbaum. Ruth briefly moved to Buffalo, N.Y., where she worked for Buffalo Savings Bank, and shortly after returned back to Windsor Locks and where she worked with her husband at Bert's Market for 25 years and later for 40 years at Bert's Spirit Shoppe. She was a faithful communicant of St. Mary Church and a member and past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Gensi Viola Post 36 of Windsor Locks. Ruth was also a past member of Saint Casimir's Lithuanian Society and the Windsor Locks Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed watching UConn men's and women's basketball and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Ruth also enjoyed spending many winter months in Boca Raton, Fla.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Noreen Skoronski Nussbaum. She is survived by her sons, Robert and his wife, Sherry, and James Nussbaum, all who gave their mother special care. Her greatest joy was talking about her seven grandsons, Justin Skoronski and his girlfriend, Lynn, of Easthampton, Mass., Matthew Skoronski and fiancée, Emily Webster, of Aberdeen, Md., Michael and Brian Nussbaum and their mother, Frances Nussbaum all of East Granby, and Quintin, Saxon and Chancellor Nussbaum, all of Windsor Locks (They were all the love of her life). Ruth is also survived two nephews, Todd and Mark Slaper, and a goddaughter, Marcy Pancotti of Port Orange, Fla.
Relatives and friends can join the family during visiting hours on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks.
A funeral procession will gather at the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Monday Nov. 5, 2012, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
