William "Bill" Paul Green Sr., 81, of the Broad Brook section of East Windsor, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, peacefully at Hartford Hospital in the arms of his wife and children.

Bill was born in Hartford on May 20, 1931, the son of the late Thomas and Josephine (Dorion) Green. He graduated from Springfield Trade School and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Columbus during the Korean War and then worked at Pratt & Whitney, before starting his own business. He was a general contractor and owner of Green Industries Inc. in South Windsor. In addition, he previously owned three Munson's Chocolate franchises. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, fourth degree, and also received many community and service awards. He had a deep passion for fishing and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn basketball.

Bill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Colleen (Williams) Green, and their children, Amanda Green, William Green Jr., and a foreign exchange student from Brazil, Melissa Olives, who was like a daughter to him. His grandchildren are Brianna, Gabriella, and Addison Coughlin, and Ciera and William Green III. From a previous marriage, his children are Debbie Fiddler, Mary Ann Knight, Linda Green, Kathi Yeager, Sharon Green, and Laurie Romano. His grandchildren are Michael, Michelle, and Lindsey Fiddler, Bryan and Sarah Knight, Stephen and Kevin Yeager, Tom Green, and Zach and Alyssa Romano; and three great-grandchildren. Bill was predeceased by Francis Green, Katherine Traulsis, and Marion Markl.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine Church, Broad Brook. Everyone is asked to meet at church. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Catherine Church Stained Glass Window Fund to sponsor a stained glass window in his memory.
