Verna M. (Ouellette) Parent, 81 of Manchester, formerly of Tolland and Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Robert R. Parent passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at home with her family at her side.

Verna was born on June 4, 1931, in Hamlin, Maine, daughter of the late Patrick and Aurore (Paradis) Ouellette. After graduating high school she went to nursing school and then moved to Connecticut in 1954. She worked as a registered nurse for 14 years at Hartford Hospital before retiring early to raise her family.
Mrs. Parent is survived by her loving family, three daughters, Roberta "Bobbi" Kruglik, Elaine Doughty, and Carol Willard and her husband, Ted, two sons, Wayne Parent and his wife, Joanne, and John Parent and his wife, Cheryl; a brother, John Ouellette; four sisters, Robertine Carmichael, Marie Swayze, Arlene Bowers and her husband, Roger and Rachael LaPerle and her husband, Don; a sister-in-law, Pat Ouellette; 11 grandchildren, Denise and Emily Kruglik, Lindsay and Steven Doughty, Jessica and Matthew Elsemore, Cailyn, Cameron, Jillian, Allyson and Braeden Parent; a great-granddaughter; Kyleigh Doughty; many nieces and nephews and extended family. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Martha Jacobsen and Delcia Buchta; a brother, Daniel Ouellette; and a son-in-law, Zdzislaw Kruglik.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester, please go directly to church. Private burial will be at a later date.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, Nov. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St., Manchester.
