Joan F. (Forgie) Brown, 76, of the Broad Brook section of East Windsor, loving wife of the late Donald L. Brown, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012.

Joan was born in Waterbury and lived in East Windsor for 40 years. She retired from teaching to raise her family, and since 1974 has been the owner/operator of Nifty Laundromat of East Windsor. Joan was an active member of the spiritual group, Terra Lux, and enjoyed sewing and going to the East Windsor Senior Center.
Joan is survived by her son, Michael Brown, and his wife, Inez, of South Windsor; three daughters, Teresa Gillietti, and her husband, Jim, of Whitman, Mass., Sheryll Waring, and her husband, Greg, of Glastonbury, and Mary Espinosa, and her husband, Joseph, of Broad Brook; a brother, John Forgie, and his wife, Joan, of Ludlow, Mass.; a brother-in-law, Dr. Edward Fitch of Falmouth, Mass.; eight grandchildren, Michael Jr., Aurora, Krystle, Paul, Julianna, Sophia, Colin, and Emma; a great-granddaughter, Laila; and a special friend, Dawn Dallas.
A funeral service will begin Friday, Nov. 16, at 9 a.m. from the Bassinger & Dowd Funeral Home, 37 Gardner St., East Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Philip Church, East Windsor. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
