Robert V. Plickys, 75, of Ellington, beloved husband of Joann (Russlan) Plickys, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 14, 1937, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late Vincent and Helen (Danenas) Plickys.

Besides his wife of 52 years, Robert is survived by his children, daughter Jeanene Neff and her husband, Rod, of Ellington, two sons: Michael Plickys and his wife, Donna, of Ellington, Mark Plickys and his wife, Kristine, of Unionville; grandchildren, Katelyn, Kyle, Jonathan, Ryan, Emma, and Colin.

Robert was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame receiving both a BS and MS in Aeronautical Engineering. After college, Robert worked as a Service Representative for Hamilton Standard at the Boeing Corporation in Wichita, Kan., and then relocated to Connecticut and continued his career at Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks in Engineering and Marketing, retiring after 33 years. Robert continued to work post-retirement for Hertz and most recently for Belcan Corporation as an Engineering Recruiter. Robert worked for Belcan until September 2012. Robert thoroughly enjoyed fishing and all types of sports. He loved the outdoors. His children and grandchildren will always remember him in the stands at their soccer, basketball, lacrosse, softball, and baseball games. On the weekends you would always find him watching his favorite teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was a member of Holy Trinity in Hartford.

Relatives and friends may join the family on Tuesday, Nov. 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Burke-Fortin Funeral Home, 76 Prospect St., Rockville. Burial will be in Pittsburgh, Pa.
