Diane (Thompson) O'Connor, 67, of Enfield, and formerly of Tolland, passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Evergreen Health Care Center.

Born on Feb. 18, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Ada (Howard) Thompson, and the loving wife of 18 years to Christopher J. O'Connor. Diane was raised in the Hazardville section of Enfield and was a 1963 graduate of Enfield High School. She began her working career with the State of Connecticut, eventually retiring in 2009 from the Department of Correction after 26 years of service. Diane loved traveling and gathering with family and friends to celebrate the events of life. She also enjoyed reading and knitting. Her gentle love of her animals, Haley, Winston, Roxy, and Clemmie, brought her great comfort and joy.

In addition to her husband, Christopher; Diane is survived by her two children, Grant Routhier and his wife, Stacy, of Simsbury, and Kimberly Sokolowski and her husband, Todd; and her one beloved grandson, her "source of infinite pride," Evan Sokolowski. Diane will be dearly missed by aunts, Eileen Cormier and Janet Usher, both of Enfield; brothers-in-law Thomas O'Connor, of Tolland, and Michael O'Connor of Georgia; sisters-in-law, Donna O'Connor of Vernon, and Joanne O'Connor of Georgia; special cousins, Karen Parks of The Villages, Fla., Jan Leary of Sebastian, Fla., Barbara Lange of Enfield, and Gloria Wood of Bolton; her closest friends, MunOk and Lloyd Dame, Susan Grucci, Doreen and Fred Santanello, and lifelong friend, Leslie Lougee Ward; and several loving nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Diane's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Evergreen Health Care Center for the excellent care they provided during her illness.
