Elva M. Kiely, 80, of Tolland, formerly of Vernon, Manchester, and East Hartford, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.

Born in Plains, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Esther Griffith, she came to East Hartford in the mid-1940s. Elva was an artist, founded the East Hartford Art League in the '50s. She and her late husband, Raymond, also owned a florist and gift shop, and ran a convenience store. Elva has done many paintings over the years in her own unique style. In 2001 they were displayed at the State Capitol of Connecticut, as well as many exhibits over the years where they have won awards.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Pelletier, and her husband, Mark, of Ashford, and Steve Kiely of Vernon; grandsons, Ryan and Brandon Kiely of Vernon, Shane Kiely of Ellington; and great-grandson, Logan Steven Kiely of Ellington. She was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine.
There are no calling hours.
A private memorial will be held in Elva's honor.
