Margaret "Peggy" (Steinbeck) Geyer, of Manchester, died on Feb. 10, 2013.

She was born in Forty Fort, Pa., on March 23, 1927. She was the daughter of Frank and Rebecca Armstrong Steinbeck, graduated from Classical High School, Worcester, Mass., in 1945 and with Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Rochester, Rochester, N.Y., in 1949. She married Fred W. Geyer of Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1951 and moved to Manchester in 1952. They were married for 55 years and were longtime members of South United Methodist Church. Peggy was a corporator of Manchester Memorial Hospital, and then served as a member of the Board of Trustees for 20 years on several hospital committees and for most of her term as chairman of the Quality Assessment Committee. She was a charter member and trustee of Eastern Connecticut Health Network. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years. She lived in Manchester for over 50 years, then at Buckingham Estates in Glastonbury for the past year and half. Her family is especially grateful for the excellent care she received at Buckingham.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren: William and Dorothy of Williamsport, Pa., and children, Ethan (wife Katherine), Anna, Cody, and Alexander; James and Kim of Manchester, and children, Kara (husband Ryan) and sons, Trey and Tristan, Kori (husband Alan) and daughter, Teagan, and Kevin; Jeff and Joyce of Houston, Texas, children, Pamela (husband Ben) and Katie (husband Christopher).
Arrangements are by Watkins Funeral Home, Manchester. Private service will be at South United Methodist Church and burial at East Cemetery.
