Beatrice V. (Emmett) Atkins, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest at the age of 88, with loved ones at her side on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare in Enfield. She was the beloved wife of 26 years to the late Chester Atkins (1977).

Beatrice was born on May 1, 1924, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., a daughter of the late Joseph and Roannie (Ostrom) Emmett. She had resided in Enfield for the past three years and in Houston, Texas, and Hermitage, Tenn., prior to that. Beatrice was an avid reader and great cook, she also enjoyed sewing but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. A dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she devoted her life to caring for her family and home.
She is survived by her loving children, Deborah Leu of Enfield, Donald Atkins and wife, Earlene, of Enfield, Sussanne LaCafta and husband, William, of Texas, Jennipher Atkins of Agawam, Mass., Peter Atkins and wife, Sue, of Florida, Renee Foley and husband, Gary, of Windsor Locks, Chester "Link" Atkins and wife, Karen, of Florida and Kathy Barnett and husband, Bud, of Tennessee; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Bob Lowe of Florida, Floyd Lowe Jr. of Florida, Michael Emmett of New York, and Katherine Drapeau of Florida; along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was also predeceased by a daughter, Amber Ritchie (2013); a son, Richard Atkins (1963); siblings, Paul Emmett Sr., Walter Lowe, and Donald Emmett.
Relatives and friends may gather with her family during calling hours on Thursday, April 25, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial and remembrance service at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield. Interment will be at the convenience of her family in the Springdale Cemetery, East Windsor.
