IRMA GERTRUDE MILLER, 99 GALENA - Irma Gertrude Miller, 99, of Galena, died Saturday morning, July 13, 2013 at her home. Irma was born June 10, 1914 in Green Island, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Lingle) Hasken. She married her husband of 49 years, Andrew Joseph Miller on May 9, 1935, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Together Irma and Andrew farmed until 1970 and then moved to Galena. Irma later worked for Eaton Corporation in Hanover for 12 years. She was a Charter Member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's and served on the funeral luncheon committee for sixteen years. She was also a Farm Bureau member for many years. Irma enjoyed playing cards, gardening, traveling and visiting with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Those left to honor her memory include, three daughters, Joan Howdle of Arlington Heights, IL, Jean (Howard) Stadel of Freeport, IL and Linda Nodorft of Charlotte, NC; daughter-in-law Glenda Miller of Council Hill, IL; eight granddaughters, Nadine Stadel of Naperville, IL, Lisa (Mike) McNutt of Aiken, SC, Ann (James) Piland of Tulsa, OK, Kathleen (Brad) Nauman of Farmington, NY, Deborah (Rick) Keith of Arlington, TX, Dr. Jennifer (Matt) Jewell of Germantown Hills, IL, Susan (Reid) Retherford of Spring Grove, IL, and Laura (Chris) Stier of Boca Raton, FL; fifteen great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Fay Hasken. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Gertrude (Lingle) Hasken; her loving husband, Andrew Joseph (Joe); her son, Donald; and four siblings Sally Saam, Rosie Fellenzer, Ed and Al Hasken. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary's Church in Galena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Galena, where a visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Furlong Funeral Chapel.
