James Adams

James KENNETH ADAMS SARATOGA, Calif. - Jim Adams passed away on March 14, 2014 in Palo Alto, CA. He was born in Freeport on January 9, 1936 to Kenneth and Dorothy (Eilders) Adams. After graduating from high school, Jim enlisted in the Marine Corps. Upon discharge, he majored in engineering at San Jose City College. In 1957, Jim began working for Lockheed in antenna research and development. Over his 35 year career, he worked on the Polaris-Poseidon-Trident reentry body RF system designs for Lockheed, Pantex, Sandia Labs, Los Alamos, Vandenburg, Cape Kennedy and the Nevada test site. In 1992, Jim retired to do what he enjoyed most in life, play golf and hunt. Jim is survived by his wife, Vlasta Adams; daughters, Diana Diaz and Sarah Adams; sister, Kay (Calvin) Reed; stepdaughters, Dawn (Ken) Hinds and Lisa (Mark) Griffith; grandchildren, Grace Adams, Cidney and Audrey Hinds, Kristopher and William Griffith; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents and granddaughter, Lauren Griffith predeceased him. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. Family and friends are invited to attend the service, which begins at 1 p.m. A buffet lunch at Cimino's Italian Restaurant will follow the service.
