Robert Hodapp

ROBERT 'DUCK' HODAPP, 86 FREEPORT - Robert "Duck" Hodapp, 86, of Freeport passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at his home, after a long illness. He was born October 7, 1926, to Charles F and Florence (Dilly) Hodapp. He attended St. Joseph School and Aquin High School. He was a World War II Veteran stationed in the South Pacific. He was employed by the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad as foreman of the Maintenance & Way. Robert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, Eagles Club, Loyal Order of Moose, NRA, Ducks Unlimited and Illinois Central Gulf Pit Camp where he enjoyed kayaking, boating, hunting and fishing. He spent time gardening and was fond of planting cherry trees. He also enjoyed his large rhubarb patch and was known for his rhubarb wine that he made each season. Robert is survived by his wife, Rosemary; sister, Francis Meyers; sister-in-in-law, Marlene Hodapp; cousins, nieces, and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, great-great-nephews; best friends, Jim Jacobs, Brian Curry, Louis Meyers and Vic Duray; stepson, Doug Brehm (Alice); stepdaughters, Donna Brehm and Shelly Kostembader; and step-grandson, Craig Brehm. He was preceded by his parents; brothers, Eugene, Charles Jr., Arthur Hodapp; sister, Mary Hodapp; sister-in-law, Jane Ann Hodapp; niece, Loretta Hodapp; and nephew, Arthur Hodapp. Mass of Christian Burial Service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, at St. Joseph's Church, with Rev. Timothy Barr officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Schwarz Park Blvd. Chapel, 608 S.
